New DVI Galvanic Isolator from Gefen offers Greater Protection when Delivering Hi-Def Video in Medical Applications
Las Vegas, NV – Gefen’s DVI Galvanic Isolator makes its debut at InfoComm, providing a simple, plug and play method of protecting any environment in which high resolution video is delivered using copper cabling. Designed for imaging systems used in most medical facilities today, the DVI Galvanic Isolator protects the immediate area and individuals from ground loops that can potentially (in extreme cases) cause system damage and electric shock .
“Essentially, this solution isolates the DVI output over any copper cabling that connects the source to its display,” said Hagai Gefen, president and CEO, Gefen. “Typically, when you have a sensitive environment like an operating room or control room, people use fiber optics cable which can be expensive and a challenge to install. Now you can use copper cable and get similar results as fiber at a much reduced cost.”
The DVI Galvanic Isolator performs an isolating functionality between source and display devices when connected by copper cabling, such as cameras and LCD displays. In some mission-critical instances, such as endoscopy cameras that come in contact withboth patient and surgeon, a DVI Galvanic Isolator is a good solution for a mandated safety requirement.
Though intended for use in the medical field, the DVI Galvanic Isolator is also recommended for any environment that wants to shield itself from signal interference or ground loops. It provides up to 5kV galvanic isolation between devices, and supports high resolutions up to 1920x1200. EDID is also passed through to ensure video performance.
