Extend HDMI 1080p Full HD with Deep Color up to 330 feet (100 meters) over a single CAT-5 cable with Ethernet, RS-232, IR, remote 5V DC Power, plus automatic source switching

The GefenPRO Extender for HDMI ELR PoL 2 over CAT5 includes all of the features of the GefenPRO Extender for HDMI ELR with PoL and adds active source switching with an additional HDMI input on the receiver unit. This feature adds the ability to switch between a HDMI source connected to the sender unit and a second local HDMI source connected directly to the receiver unit. The GefenPRO Extender for HDMI ELR PoL 2 over CAT5 can extend HDMI with 3DTV support and all of the features of HDMI 1.3 including 1080p Full HD, Deep Color and high-resolution multichannel audio up to 330 feet (100 meter) over just a single CAT-5E cable.

In addition, Gefen's PoL (Power over Link) technology gives it the capability to power an additional 5V DC device, up to 3 Amps, at the Receiver unit over the CAT-5 cable.

This product also supports DVI-D when used with a HDMI to DVI adapter, providing greater flexibility when integrating various types of sources and displays.

The Extender for HDMI ELR PoL 2 over CAT5 extends Ethernet and provides an RS-232 and IR back channel to control A/V sources using the same CAT-5 cable extension. With the built-in IR Blaster, simply point the IR remote(s) at the display to control the source component(s) as if they were located in the same room as the display.

How It Works

The GefenPRO Extender for HDMI ELR PoL 2 over CAT5 Sender unit is connected to the source with the included HDMI cable. The Receiver unit is connected to the display and to the optional local HDMI source with user supplied cables. A single CAT-5E cable of up to 330 feet (100 meters) in length links the sender and receiver units. The sender unit is powered by an internal power supply, and the Receiver unit receives power from the Sender over the CAT-5E cable.

The Ethernet ports of both the Sender and Receiver units are connected to standard network devices such as routers and hubs, or can be connected to Ethernet equipped sources and displays. Optional Gefen IR accessories can be connected to provide IR control of source devices from the display location.

To use the source switching feature, simply power on the local HDMI source that is directly connected to the Receiver and the unit will automatically switch to that source. To revert to the source connected to the Sender unit, simply power down the source connected to the Receiver unit.

* Power over Link (PoL) is a Gefen proprietary technology that provides 10W of 5 Volt DC power to the GefenPRO Extender for HDMI ELR PoL 2 over CAT5 Receiver Unit over the single CAT-5 signal cable, and allows the Receiver Unit to power additional Gefen devices.

It is based on the Power over Ethernet (PoE) Standards, but is specifically tailored to Gefen's Hi-Def video products.
