Extend HDMI 1080p Full HD with Deep Color up to 330 feet (100 meters) over a single CAT-5 cable, along with 100Base-T Ethernet, RS-232, IR, and remote 5V DC Power

The GefenPRO Extender for HDMI ELR with PoL over CAT5 extends a HDMI source with 1080p Full HD video and high-resolution multi channel audio up 330 feet (100 meters) using a single CAT-5e cable. The receiver unit also has the ability to power a separate 5V DC device at up to 2 amps using power transmitted over the CAT-5 cable. This product also extends Ethernet, and provides an IR back channel to allow control of remotely located AV sources from the display location, all through the same single CAT-5. DVI-D is also supported through the use of a HDMI to DVI adapter, providing greater flexibility when integrating various types of sources and displays.

How It Works

The GefenPRO Extender for HDMI ELR with PoL over CAT5 system consists of Sender and Receiver units. The Sender is located next to the HDMI source, and the Receiver is installed near the remote HDMI display. The source and the Sender are connected with the included 6 foot HDMI cable, and the Receiver and the Display are connected with a user supplied cable. A single CAT-5e cable of up to 330 feet (100 meters) in length links the Sender and Receiver units. The Ethernet ports on both the Sender and Receiver units are connected to standard network devices such as 100Base-T routers and hubs, and can also be connected to Ethernet equipped sources and displays. The Sender unit is powered by an internal power supply and provides power to the Receiver over the CAT-5e cable. An additional 5V/2A DC Gefen device can be powered from the receiver using the optional power cable listed below. In addition, IR commands can be relayed from the display location to the source component(s) with the optional Gefen IR accessories listed on the left-hand side of the page.

* Power over Link (PoL) is a Gefen proprietary technology that provides 10W of 5 Volt DC power to the Receiver Unit over the single CAT-5 signal cable, and allows the Receiver Unit to power additional Gefen devices.

It is based on the Power over Ethernet (PoE) Standards, but is specifically tailored to Gefen's Hi-Def video products.
